Emmanuel Nwite, a former candidate for the Ezza North/Ishielu Federal constituency from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2023 general elections, has made a significant move by joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

This shift follows closely on the heels of Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, also defecting to the APC just two months prior.

At a gathering in his Ezzagu ward 1 within the Ishielu Local Government area, Nwite publicly showcased his new APC membership and emphasized that his decision was driven by a desire to support the state governor, Francis Nwifuru, rather than personal political ambitions.

Accompanied by a large group of supporters, Nwite praised Governor Nwifuru’s exemplary leadership, noting that it has significantly resonated with the citizens, despite the considerable authority he possesses.

“We are joining the APC to bolster our governor, Francis Nwifuru, in delivering the Ebonyi People’s charter of needs across every corner of the state,” he declared.

He reassured skeptics, saying, “We are not entering the APC for immediate political gains. For those worried that we intend to disrupt the existing political setup or replace anyone, I want to ease those concerns. Our aim is not to clash with anyone, as power ultimately belongs to God, who bestows it upon whom He wills.”

Nwite highlighted the governor’s humility, which he believes has fostered peace and unity within the state, transcending political boundaries.

He also expressed gratitude towards Stanley Okoro-Emegha, the APC Chairman in the state, commending his effective leadership and unwavering support for the governor’s efforts to unify the state.

Despite the APC’s dominance both at the state and federal levels, Nwite noted that Okoro-Emegha has remained grounded, actively engaging with individuals across different political affiliations to rally support for the governor’s vision.

He urged all residents of Ebonyi to rally behind Governor Nwifuru’s administration and to avoid actions that might hinder the ambitious goals of the state government.
