Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has signed a new two year deal which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2027.

The improved deal came with an option for a further year which could be extended until 2028.

United signed Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020 as the midfielder signed a five-and-a-half-year deal.

Manchester United paid an initial 46.6 million for Fernandes with potential add-ons taking the overall deal to £68m.

Fernandes said after joining United, “My love of Manchester United really started when I used to watch Cristiano Ronaldo play and ever since then I have been a big fan of this great club”.

The United captain was touted to be leaving United this summer with Bayern Munich linked with the starman as well as clubs in Saudi Arabia.

The 29-year old scored 10 league goals and nine assists in 35 games and has started this campaign with an assist in the Community Shield as United fans remain grateful to Ole Gunnar Solskjer for signing the Midfielder.
