On August 14, President Bola Tinubu is set to be a distinguished guest at the 60th anniversary celebration of the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON), as well as the inaugural African Defence Industries Conference.

Acting in his capacity as the Special Guest of Honour, the president will deliver a keynote address during the occasion.

The announcement was made by Henshaw Ogubike, the Director of Information and Public Relations, who indicated that the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, will hold a press conference on August 12 to officially kick off the event.

The anniversary, themed “Future Frontiers in Africa’s Defence Technology,” aims to highlight DICON’s achievements and innovations while fostering stronger connections among industry stakeholders.

Ogubike noted that the event is poised to attract a multitude of defence industry leaders from Nigeria and across Africa, with an expected turnout of over 3,000 participants, both local and international.

He further emphasized that the conference will explore investment prospects, industrial collaborations, and advancements in the African defence sector. Attendees can look forward to insightful presentations from a panel of esteemed speakers and experts from around the globe.

The director extended an invitation to reputable companies, defence industry stakeholders, government officials, military representatives, and industry leaders to participate and seize the opportunities presented at this significant gathering.
