Chelsea football club has initiated negotiations for Atletico Madrid forward João Felix following the collapse of the deal that was to take Spanish striker Omorodion to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea was on the verge of completing a deal for Atletico Madrid forward Samu Omorodion for a reported £34 million but the deal has been called off after what was termed as big issues.
Omorodion had two parts of medicals with Chelsea, one in France during the Olympics and the second part in London after the medical but has now returned to Spain after being told that the deal will not happen again.
Chelsea has now turned their 100 percent attention to João Felix who was a Chelsea payer on loan for half of the 2022/23 season.
Felix scored just four goals in 16 appearances for the Blues with zero assist, causing former Boss Mauricio Pochetino to decide against signing him on a permanent basis.
The 24-year old Felix is now a serious candidate to be part of the Chelsea project under new boss Enzo Maresca.
Jorge Mendes who represents Felix was already in London since yesterday to further accelerate the process as Felix hopes to leave Atletico on a permanent after spending the last two years on loan.
After playing for Chelsea for some part of the 2022/23 season, Felix joined Barcelona on a season long loan but still did not find his feat after scoring just seven goals and three assists in 30 league games.
His most successful campaign has been the 2018/19 season when he scored 15 leagues goals in just 26 appearances coupled with seven assists, promotion Atletico to give out £113 million for him.
But has scored just 25 goals and 13 assists in 96 appearances for the Spanish Capital club.
Chelsea is building a team for the future and he might find his feat.omce again under Maresca should the deal materialise as his heart is no more in Madrid.
