Ms Omosede Igbinedion, daughter of Benin High Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Her resignation was announced in a letter dated August 11, addressed to Mr. Lucky Edosomwan, Chairman of the PDP in Okada West Ward 1, Ovia North East Local Government Area.

In her letter, which was obtained by thepaan on Tuesday in Benin, Igbinedion criticized the party for its lack of equity, fairness, and justice, especially in Edo State.

She expressed frustration that despite her complaints to both state and national party leaders, the marginalization of indigenous party members persisted.

“I am resigning from the PDP due to the principles of equity, fairness, and justice, which no longer prevail within our party in the state,” Igbinedion stated.

“The continued marginalization of indigenous PDP members, who have tirelessly supported the party, despite numerous complaints, has led me to this decision. I no longer feel the drive, conviction, and commitment towards a party I once called home.”

Igbinedion also pointed out the absence of indigenous PDP members on the Edo governorship ballot, whether as candidates or running mates. “This raises the question of who we are truly working for,” she added.

Emphasizing her dedication to the people of Ovia, Igbinedion concluded, “My commitment to the people of Ovia, who have always supported me, outweighs any personal or party interest. Therefore, I am resigning from the PDP effective August 11, 2024.”
