Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi has remained upbeat on Nigeria’s qualifications to the next edition of the FIFA World Cup.

Despite Nigeria’s poor outing in the qualifying series, Iwobi believes that the team can still go all the way to be in Qatar for the world cup.

The 28-year old former Arsenal man has been an active participant in the disappointing outings during the qualifying games with the latest home game being the 1-1 draw against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa.

Iwobi was a starter and received some negative feedback from the home crowd especially in the first half but stepped up in the second 45 minutes after producing the assist for Dele-Bashiru’s equaliser.

Iwobi also played in the 2-1 lose to Benin Republic in Côte d’Ivoire as Nigeria is left languishing in the second bottom of the log with just three points from five games leaving them at the risk of not qualifying.

But the Iwobi is hopeful that the team can perform the needed wonders to play in the next world cup “I hope we qualify because it’s everyone’s dream.

“Obviously, I’m lucky to have lived to play the World Cup, but there are some people like Ola (Aina), who were unfortunate not to have gone when I feel like they should have been picked.”

“Everyone wants to go to the World Cup. We still have a chance. We made it hard for ourselves,” the former Arsenal man said on Ola Aina’s YouTube channel.
