Tragedy struck in Osun State this morning when the lifeless body of an infant was discovered in a shallow bush near a residential area in the outskirts of Osogbo, the state capital.

Residents of the community made the grim discovery around 6:30 AM while on their way to the farms. According to eyewitnesses, the infant, believed to be less than a week old, was found wrapped in a piece of cloth and abandoned in the bush.

Local authorities, including the police and health officials, were promptly alerted to the scene. The baby’s body has been taken to the state hospital for further examination.

Community members expressed shock and sadness over the incident, calling on the authorities to ensure a thorough investigation and bring those responsible to justice.

A resident, Mrs. Pelumi Onabanjo, who was among the first to arrive at the scene, said, “It’s heartbreaking to think that someone could do this to an innocent child. We hope the police will find out who is behind this cruel act.”

“Investigations are ongoing, and we urge anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist the police in solving this case,” Police spokesman stated.
