Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, has vigorously countered claims from the state government alleging his involvement in the mysterious vanishing of a corruption-related document from a local courthouse.
In a firm denial, Ganduje accused the state administration of inciting the unrest that purportedly led to the file’s disappearance. His chief press secretary, Edwin Olofu, echoed these sentiments in a statement, asserting that the government was to blame for both the chaos and the missing file.
Olofu dismissed the allegations against Ganduje as unfounded and absurd, arguing that the state government was attempting to shift blame away from its own failures. He remarked that it is absurd to suggest that protesters could have intelligently looted specific documents during a demonstration in this modern age, labeling the accusations as laughable.
He stated, “The notion that protesters could break into a courthouse and selectively remove documents pertinent to the ongoing corruption trial is not just improbable; it reflects a troubling incompetence in governance. What happened to those documents in the possession of government lawyers?”
Olofu criticized the current administration, led by Governor Yusuf, for resorting to baseless corruption claims against Ganduje and his family, who he asserts have served the state with integrity.
Ganduje called for a thorough federal investigation, demanding accountability for those behind the violence and the missing documentation. He expressed concern over Governor Yusuf’s behavior, suggesting that his actions threatened the stability of President Bola Tinubu’s government.
He emphasized, “It is shocking that a sitting governor would provoke such disorder, endangering the lives and properties of innocent citizens in his state. This reckless conduct is aimed at destabilizing Kano and undermining the peace our President is striving to maintain.”
Ganduje urged citizens of Kano to remain calm and law-abiding while investigations are conducted, affirming the APC’s commitment to upholding peace, justice, and good governance throughout Nigeria.
