In a major crackdown, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has apprehended 2,726 suspects involved in various criminal activities across the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, over the past month.
During a press briefing in Abuja, Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Olumuyiwa Adejobi, highlighted the Police Force’s unwavering commitment to combating crime and ensuring justice.
ACP Adejobi revealed that the suspects, who have admitted to offenses such as armed robbery and kidnapping, are undergoing thorough interrogation and will face legal proceedings soon.
One notable arrest involved Hauwa Yusuf, a 30-year-old from Dutsin-Ma LGA in Katsina State. Yusuf was apprehended while traveling from Lafia, Nasarawa State, to Katsina State on the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway. A search of her Sienna bus uncovered an unregistered AK-47 rifle and four AK magazines hidden in a sack of garri. Yusuf confessed to transporting the weapons for a notorious bandit operating in Katsina State.
The FPRO emphasized that the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, remains steadfast in his mission to safeguard Nigerian citizens and their properties.
This parade of suspects underscores the NPF’s ongoing efforts to uphold law and order and reinforce public safety. ACP Adejobi also urged the public to continue supporting law enforcement by sharing information that could assist in the fight against crime.
