The Oyo State security outfit, Amotekun Corps, has arrested a young man suspected of stealing human heads from burial grounds for ritual purposes.

The suspect, identified as Lateef Oladimeji, was apprehended on Sunday night, August 18, 2024, following a tip-off by concerned residents of the area.

The suspect was allegedly caught in the act at a burial ground located in the outskirts of Ibadan. According to reports, Oladimeji has been involved in the illegal trade of human skulls, selling them for as low as ₦5,000 to individuals seeking them for ritual purposes.

During interrogation, Oladimeji confessed to the crime, revealing that he had stolen several human heads in the past and had regular buyers who use them for various ritual activities.

The suspect is currently in custody and will be handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution. Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies as part of efforts to curb the menace of ritual-related crimes in the state.
