Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara officially confirmed his allegiance to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), putting an end to months of speculation regarding his potential departure from the party on Tuesday.
There had been rumors suggesting that Fubara was a key influence behind the rising popularity of the Action People’s Party (APP), notably following an explosive incident at their secretariat last week.
However, during a visit from the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) at the government house in Port Harcourt, Fubara expressed doubts about his party membership until the delegation’s visit reaffirmed his standing within the PDP.
“What matters today is that we remain members of the party, and the true stakeholders have come to see us,” he stated.
“For those spreading various rumors and propaganda from the outside, this visit should dispel such claims and affirm to the world that we are and continue to be members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),” he asserted.
The delegation, which included BoT Chairman Senator Adolphus Wabara, former Chairman Ahmed Makarfi, elder statesman Olabode George, and Senator Abdul Ningi, emphasized their mission to restore peace in Rivers State.
Wabara Particularly noted something, Saying, “The party is concerned about the possibility of losing Rivers State.”
