Abeokuta residents have been thrown into shock following the sudden death of Oriyomi Babatunde, a local farmer, after a series of events that unfolded over the past few weeks.
Babatunde, who resided in the town, was reportedly bitten by a snake while gathering firewood on his farm. He managed to crawl back home and was immediately rushed to a nearby church for spiritual intervention.
According to reports, the pastor at the church conducted healing prayers, and after a few days, Babatunde appeared to have fully recovered.
However, the situation took a strange turn when the pastor instructed Babatunde to return to the church for a sacrificial ritual, which he claimed was necessary to completely seal the healing.
Babatunde’s family initially refused, arguing that he was already in good health and did not require any further spiritual procedures. Despite their reluctance, the pastor and his wife persistently persuaded them, stressing that the sacrifice was essential.
Under pressure, the family eventually agreed, and Babatunde was taken back to the church for the ritual.
Tragically, after the sacrifice was conducted, Oriyomi Babatunde reportedly passed away this morning. His death has sparked discussions and concerns among the community, with many questioning the circumstances surrounding the spiritual practice.
The family has expressed deep sorrow and confusion, as they believed he was already recovering well before returning to the church. The incident is currently the subject of intense discussion in the community, with some residents questioning the motives and actions of the church leaders.
The police and local authorities have yet to make a statement regarding the incident, and it remains unclear if any formal investigation will be launched into the matter. Meanwhile, the community remains gripped by the tragic loss of a beloved farmer whose life was unexpectedly cut short.
