Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, firmly stated on Thursday that allegations of corruption against him as a public official are unfounded.

Speaking at the Michael Okpara Leadership Lecture and Award 2024 held at the Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, Uzodinma urged fellow public servants to adhere to ethical standards and to avoid corrupt practices. He emphasized that the rampant corruption plaguing Nigeria can be attributed to an excessive desire for wealth and a lack of self-discipline among officials.

In his address, titled “Service Above Self: Insights from the Leadership Philosophy of Michael Okpara,” Governor Uzodinma encouraged political leaders to draw inspiration from the remarkable legacy of the late Premier of Eastern Nigeria, which he believes is essential for the nation’s progress.

Additionally, he announced that the rehabilitation of the Egbema power plant is underway and is expected to be completed and operational by the first quarter of 2025. Uzodinma highlighted the significance of this project in providing consistent 24-hour electricity to various regions within the state.
