In a significant breakthrough in an ongoing investigation into a kidnapping case reported last year in Esan South East, joint security operatives, acting on credible intelligence, made a midday arrest today, August 23, 2024.

The team, comprising military personnel, Civil Defence, and other security agencies, apprehended four notorious members of a secessionist group involved in a series of criminal activities, including kidnapping, carjacking, and armed robbery, operating in Ewohimi, Ubiaja, Ohordua, Udo, and the surrounding areas in Esan South East.

One of the suspects, whose names are being withheld, was found with a bullet wound on his leg, while the other, a fake pastor responsible for preparing criminal charms for the gang, has confessed to the crimes.

The suspects are now cooperating with the police in identifying other gang members. They have also disclosed the location of the shrine where the charms are prepared and where some of the stolen vehicles are hidden.

The Commissioner of Police, has assured the people of Edo State that the command is intensifying efforts on all reported cases, particularly incidents involving kidnapping and armed robbery.

He emphasized that the trust placed in the police for the protection of lives and property is a responsibility that is taken very seriously.
