Over 100 former employees of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) have initiated legal proceedings against the bank at the National Industrial Court (NIC) following their recent dismissal as part of a reorganization strategy implemented by President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The dismissed staff are seeking compensation for damages, unpaid entitlements, and other claims associated with their abrupt termination. They are represented by Lead Counsel Mr. Ola Olanipekun (SAN), who has filed over 100 suits challenging what the employees describe as the unjust and unlawful termination of their services.
In a statement, Olanipekun revealed, “Our clients are seeking to enforce their right to a fair hearing. The sudden dismissal has caused them significant financial and emotional harm, with damages running into hundreds of millions of Naira.”

One of the claimants, who had nine years of service remaining before retirement, is demanding that the CBN pay his full monthly salary and allowances until his rightful retirement date. This amounts to approximately N178,360,127.00.
The former employees argue that the dismissals were carried out without due process, and they are seeking redress through the NIC for what they believe are their rightful entitlements.
