Manchester United has suffered their first league defeat in just two outings as the season begins.

The Red Devils were beaten by Brighton and Holve Albion at the Amex on Saturday.

The Erik Ten Hag side fell to a 2-1 defeat thanks to goals from former Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck and the late winner from Joao Pedro.

Welbeck gave the host the lead in the first half and they held on to the lead until midway into the second half as Manchester United drew level thanks to a 60th minute strike from Amad Diallo.

United thought they had gotten the lead for the first time in the game but was rightly called off for an offside from new signing, Joshua Zirkzee who got the last touch.

Substitute Alejandro Gernacho slotted home Bruno Fernandes’ inch-perfect cross which was heading goalward and would have handed United the lead but was touched by Zirkzee who was in an offside position.

João Pedro then got the opportunity to hand Brighton their second successive victory of the season when he was lonely at the far post as Adingra’s cross met the former Watford man to head home the winner.

United has now won one and lost one in their two opening fixtures after a 1-0 win over Fulham at Old Trafford and now the loss at the Amex.
