Dino Melaye, the former senator from Kogi West, has intensified his criticism of certain key figures within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Melaye previously accused the party’s National Chairman, Iliya Damagum; National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu; and Organizing Secretary, Umar Bature, of leading the PDP to its downfall. He argues that these leaders have irreparably harmed the party’s integrity.
In a recent outburst, Melaye expressed concern that the founding members of the PDP—such as Alex Ekwueme, Solomon Lar, Sunday Awoniyi, Adamu Chiroma, Tony Anenih, and Abubakar Rimi—would be disgraced by the current state of the party under Damagum’s leadership. He lamented that the PDP has become like an obituary, reflecting its diminished status.
Taking to X, Melaye stated, “The PDP stands as the only enduring party of the 4th Republic, surviving 27 years of various challenges.”
He continued, “It’s heartbreaking that the vision of a united national party, cherished by Ekwueme, Lar, Awoniyi, Chiroma, Anenih, Rimi, and others, is being tarnished by the actions of Damagum, Anyanwu, and Bature. The PDP has transitioned into an obituary.”
