The Anambra State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has suffered a significant loss with the resignation of George Moghalu, a prominent figure who previously served as the Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) and held the position of National Auditor within the party.
Moghalu officially stepped down from the APC by submitting a resignation letter dated August 26, 2024, to the chairman of his Uruagu Ward 1 in Nnewi, located in the Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
In his letter, he expressed, “I extend warm greetings from my family and wish to formally inform you of my decision to resign from the All Progressives Congress, effective today, the 26th of August, 2024.”
He added, “Please consider this a personal choice.”
Moghalu emphasized his hope that relationships built over the years would remain intact despite his departure. “I wish you and all party members the very best. As always, I extend my best regards.”
As one of the APC’s founding members, Moghalu played a crucial role in the party’s establishment, serving as the coordinating secretary of the committee that facilitated the merger leading to the formation of the APC. He also ran for the governorship of Anambra State under the party’s banner in both 2017 and 2021.
While Moghalu did not specify his next political steps, he assured that details would be shared in the near future.
