Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, has praised the Idu Industrial Park in Abuja for its impressive capacity to generate up to 40,000 jobs.

During his first visit to the park on Wednesday, Wike expressed his astonishment at the project’s scale and potential, calling it “mind-boggling.”

Wike emphasized the importance of such investments in driving Nigeria’s economic growth, stating, “This is mind-boggling. This is my first time visiting the Abuja Industrial Park. The development of Idu will be transformative. This is the type of project every government should support.”

He noted the anticipated development of the park, predicting that, given the necessary approvals, construction could be completed within eight to nine months, opening up the area significantly.

Wike highlighted the critical role of industrial parks in urban development and commended the Managing Director of Zeberced for their commitment to Abuja’s growth and the advancement of Nigeria’s economy.

“The quality of production and the use of locally made materials here are commendable,” Wike added. “It is crucial for businesses to thrive, and reliable power supply is essential for this.”

Wike also underscored the importance of job creation, stating that the park’s ability to create 40,000 jobs would alleviate unemployment and boost economic growth.

He expressed confidence in the park’s potential for export and the harnessing of Nigeria’s raw materials, which he believes will attract further investment.

Additionally, Wike pledged support for infrastructure improvements, including road network enhancements to the park.

He revealed plans to convert a single carriageway to a dual carriageway to facilitate better access, with possible tax credits to incentivize the construction.

The Minister concluded by assuring that the necessary approvals and support for the park’s development would be expedited, emphasizing the government’s commitment to ensuring that the park’s potential benefits are realized.
