Abdulrafiu Yakubu, a key figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State, has officially switched allegiance to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), bringing along a substantial number of his supporters.
During a press conference in Lokoja on Thursday, Yakubu expressed his disillusionment with the PDP, stating that the party lacks a viable vision for Kogi State.
“Sometimes, you believe you’ve made the right choice, but upon reflection, it’s clear that a change is necessary to set things right,” he remarked.
Yakubu explained that his return to the APC was motivated by extensive discussions with his constituents and a genuine desire for progress.
“I have always identified with progressive values. We’ve exerted our best efforts to promote the welfare of our community, and I firmly believe that our goals align perfectly with those of the All Progressive Congress,” he stated.
He emphasized the importance of collaborating with like-minded individuals in the political sphere, noting that he was invited back to the APC because of his progressive stance.
“With this move, I’m bringing along thousands of supporters back to the APC. Today marks a fresh start that aligns with the vision and mission set forth by Kogi State’s Executive Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo. We aim to integrate into the party’s framework and actively contribute to its success,” Yakubu added.
He urged others to view his return as a strategic advantage for the APC, declaring, “My comeback represents a setback for the opposition and a significant gain for the APC. Every loss is accompanied by a gain, and every conclusion signals a new beginning.”
Yakubu concluded with enthusiasm, “This is indeed a new chapter, and I’m thrilled to be back where I truly belong.”
