Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Governor of Kano State has revealed an initiative to implement an electronic registration system for party members, aimed at obtaining precise insights into both membership numbers and data quality.

During a meeting with members of the Correspondents’ Chapel at the Kano State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Abuja on Thursday, Ganduje shared details of this new approach.

He stated, “The introduction of electronic registration is designed not just to count our members but also to enhance the quality and diversity of the information we collect.”

Ganduje further emphasized the benefits of this system, explaining, “With this data, we will be able to identify the age demographics within our party. This allows us to tailor our outreach strategies to effectively engage specific age groups based on their unique needs.”

He pointed out that relying on traditional methods has hindered the ability to accurately assess membership data. “We face challenges in understanding various factors such as gender, age, profession, and educational background. This new system will provide us with crucial data that will inform our campaign strategies and help us target our efforts more effectively.”

Additionally, Ganduje mentioned that electronic registration would facilitate the evaluation of commitments made to different demographic segments during campaigns, ensuring that governance aligns with these promises.

He also acknowledged the pressing issue of youth unemployment, which has been a significant concern for the party.

In response to this challenge, Ganduje announced plans for a national conference aimed at tackling unemployment, stating, “We are working towards modernizing our national curriculum, including higher education, to ensure that graduates are equipped with the skills necessary for employment, rather than producing individuals who struggle to find jobs.”
