The Nigerian Army has apprehended a man in Enugu for allegedly selling fake military uniforms to individuals involved in criminal activities.

The suspect, identified as Chinedu, was arrested this afternoon in a covert operation carried out by soldiers in the Enugu metropolis.

According to military sources, the man had been under surveillance for some time following reports that he was supplying counterfeit military uniforms to criminals.

These uniforms were reportedly used by the culprits to impersonate soldiers and carry out various illicit activities, including armed robbery and extortion.

The suspect was caught red-handed while attempting to sell the fake uniforms to a group of young men. Upon his arrest, several sets of counterfeit military attire and other paraphernalia were recovered from his possession. The soldiers immediately took him into custody for further interrogation.

Speaking on the arrest, a military officer involved in the operation emphasized the importance of public cooperation in identifying and reporting suspicious activities.

“This arrest is a significant step in curbing the growing trend of criminal elements impersonating military personnel. We urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities,” the officer said.

The suspect is currently being detained at the military barracks in Enugu, where he will face further questioning. The authorities have assured that those found guilty of such offenses will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
