Mohammed Yakubu Dogara has officially stepped into the role of chairman for the PDP in the Federal Capital Territory, following his election at the party’s state congress attended by delegates.

The congress, which took place at the Apo Town Hall in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) on Saturday, saw Dogara, a former chairman of the Kuje Area Council chapter, emerge unopposed. The proceedings were overseen by officials from INEC, including the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mahmud Isah, and led by the electoral committee chairman, Mohammed Abubakar Sadiq, with security agencies also monitoring the event.

In addition to Dogara, several other party officials were elected without contest, including Mohammed Babaji Madaki as deputy chairman, Mahmud Mohammed as vice chairman I, and Adamu Aliyu as vice chairman III. The new executive team also features Rabo Lucky Iyah as secretary, Samuel Danjuma Shekwolo as organizing secretary, and Alhaji Idris Gana as treasurer, among others.

During the event, Senator Philip Aduda, a prominent figure in the PDP within the FCT, congratulated the new leadership, emphasizing that this congress symbolizes a fresh beginning for the party in the region.

In his acceptance remarks, Alhaji Dogara pledged to foster unity among party members and supporters across the six area councils, asserting that under his guidance, the PDP would continue to strengthen its position as it gears up for success in the 2027 general elections.
