Mustapha Inuwa, the former secretary of Katsina State, has asserted that a powerful new political alliance is essential to topple the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming 2027 elections.
Speaking to reporters in Katsina, Inuwa, who previously served as the state director general for Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s presidential candidate in 2023, expressed doubts about the ability of the currently troubled Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to compete effectively against the APC.
He stated, “A Mega Party represents the sole opportunity to displace the APC and deliver the transformative change that Nigerians are desperately seeking.”
Inuwa highlighted the ongoing struggles and food scarcity caused by the APC administration, alongside the rampant insecurity plaguing the North West, particularly in Katsina, as key reasons for the urgent formation of a new political entity.
Commenting on the internal conflicts within the PDP, he expressed confidence that the judiciary would recognize the legitimate party officials and invalidate the controversial congress orchestrated by the Lado Danmake faction.
Inuwa’s announcement is viewed as a crucial moment in the political dynamics of Katsina State, as the momentum for a Mega Party builds ahead of the 2027 elections.
In other news, the PDP conducted its state congress over the weekend, successfully electing new officials under the watchful eye of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), despite the ongoing legal challenges in the Katsina courts.
