Turkish champions Galatasaray has agreed on a deal in principle with Italian club Napoli for the signing of Nigeria international Victor Osimhen on a season-long loan deal.
The agreement as revealed by Fabrizio Romano covers Osimhen’s €9/10 million annual salary for the African footballer of the year.
Gala delegations are already in Italy to meet with Osimhen’s camp for face-to-face negotiations to see if they can push for his signature before their deadline day is September 13.
Napoli has reportedly agreed to the deal as Galatasaray will cover Osimhen’s full wages for the entire season as the deal has no clause to retain Osimhen next season.
Osimhen has been the subject of transfer speculations this summer after some serious negotiations with big European clubs have failed to materialise.
Paris Saint-Germain is among the big names to have indicated interest in the Nigeria goal pocher but a deal failed to materialise after they had tabled about €80 million for the forward.
Chelsea fought until the deadline to sign Osimhen but were far from agreement as Osimhen’s high wage demands remained a problem.
Oil-rich Saudi Arabia proposed a huge salary package for the 25-year old but Osimhen was on a mission of continuing his career in Europe.
The forward will be focusing on the African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda as players have already started arriving at camp in Uyo for the game against Benin on Sunday.
