The 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has offered to address the ongoing Fulani crises in Nigeria, seeking to provide a lasting solution to the issues affecting the community.

In a meeting with the leadership of the Fulani group, Tapital Pulaku Njode Jam Nigeria, held at his palace on Tuesday, Emir Sanusi emphasized the need for a comprehensive solution to the Fulani crises. The delegation was led by Modibbo Jada.

Sanusi stated, “It is crucial for the Federal Government to fully support my mission, as their backing is essential to the success of my strategy. While I will provide the ideas and methodologies, the government’s support will be pivotal in implementing them effectively.”

He acknowledged the significant challenges faced by the Fulani community, including attacks, isolation, killings, and the rustling of their cattle. “These issues have been widespread, and urgent action is required to address them. However, it is also important to recognize that some individuals within the Fulani community have tarnished the reputation of the group, contributing to their current plight.”

The Emir called for a collaborative effort between the government and the Fulani leaders to achieve lasting peace and prosperity. “This is the time for the government and us to work together to find a permanent solution to the crises, particularly those involving farmers and other conflicts. I am committed to helping the government achieve our shared goal of peace and prosperity for the Fulani and all Nigerians.”

Modibbo Jada, leader of the Fulani group, expressed support for Emir Sanusi’s leadership. “We are here to reaffirm our allegiance to the Emir, who was appointed long ago by the Lamido of Adamawa. Our members are widespread, and if only the youth wing of our group were present, the palace would be overwhelmed. We have members across all 36 states of Nigeria.”

Jada expressed confidence that Emir Sanusi has the capability to restore the Fulani community’s reputation and highlight their contributions to Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
