Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party’s (LP) candidate for the Lagos governorship in 2023, is bullish about the party’s prospects for seizing power in Lagos by 2027.

Rhodes-Vivour shared his insights during a press briefing in Umuahia, the capital of Abia State, where he participated in a crucial stakeholder meeting for the Labour Party. He emphasized that the party has become significantly stronger, positioning itself to effectively challenge for control of Lagos State. He noted that the LP has been diligently strategizing and building on its successes since a remarkable performance in the 2023 elections, where it made notable gains in the former capital.

Expressing his optimism about the recent stakeholder gathering in Umuahia, Rhodes-Vivour stated that the outlook for the party has been greatly enhanced. “The Labour Party is now structured not only to compete but to seize power in 2027. Our aim here in Umuahia is to unify our efforts as we prepare for new victories ahead,” he explained.

“I am confident that the Labour Party will achieve a decisive victory in Lagos State come 2027. Our efforts have been relentless since the 2023 elections; we haven’t been idle. Each day, we grow stronger and more united,” he stated emphatically.

Furthermore, Rhodes-Vivour criticized the current ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), for its poor governance, arguing that the APC’s failures have created a favorable environment for the Labour Party to potentially dominate both Lagos and the national scene in 2027. He pointed out that the severe economic challenges and widespread hunger are undeniable signs of the ruling party’s incompetence.
