In a devastating accident along the Ibadan-Oyo Expressway, four people lost their lives, while several others sustained severe injuries following a collision between a commercial bus and a trailer. The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday near the Akinyele area of the expressway.

Eyewitnesses reported that the commercial bus, carrying 18 passengers, was speeding when the driver lost control while attempting to overtake the trailer. The bus veered off course and rammed into the trailer, which was loaded with building materials.

The impact of the collision left the bus completely mangled, trapping passengers inside. Bystanders and local residents rushed to the scene to help rescue those trapped, while emergency services were called in to assist.

The Oyo State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the fatalities and said the injured were quickly transported to the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan for emergency treatment. Among the deceased were a woman and her two children, adding to the grief surrounding the incident.

The FRSC has urged motorists to adhere strictly to speed limits and other road safety regulations to prevent such tragic occurrences.
