Tragedy struck in the early hours of today in Lagos state, as a middle-aged man took his own life allegedly due to frustration over the dire economic situation in the country.
The man whose identity is yet to be released, was found hanging in his home after ensuring his family had left for church, leaving him alone in the house.
According to neighbors, the deceased had been vocal in recent months about his struggles to cope with the rising cost of living and the financial burden on his household.
They expressed shock and sadness over the incident, noting that while the man often spoke about his frustrations, no one expected him to take such a drastic step.
A neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous, recounted the events leading to the discovery: “We noticed his wife and children left for church early this morning. Not long after, we heard a commotion and realized he had hung himself. It’s heartbreaking.”
Family members returned from church only to be met with the devastating news. The man is believed to have used the moment of solitude to carry out the act, leaving no note behind to explain his decision.
