Notore Chemical Industries Limited has appointed Matthias Ogwuche as its new company secretary, following the resignation of Otivbo Saleh, who served in the role for nearly 17 years. The announcement was made in a notification to the Nigerian Exchange Limited.
Matthias Ogwuche, previously the senior legal officer overseeing the company’s secretariat and compliance with regulatory requirements, officially took over the position on August 20, 2024. His responsibilities include organizing committees, boards, and annual general meetings for Notore.
Ogwuche has been recognized for his professionalism and dedication to his work. Notore highlighted his skills in drafting and reviewing legal agreements, analyzing legal risks, and providing advice to mitigate those risks. He played a key role in the company’s listing on the Nigerian Exchange in August 2018 and was involved in the due diligence and compliance aspects of a $37 million deal with the Africa Export-Import Bank in December 2019.
He holds a certificate in Company Secretary Practice and Optimum Productivity from the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators in Nigeria, as well as a Corporate Governance Certificate from the Nigerian Exchange Limited.
The appointment of Ogwuche comes at a time when Notore is focusing on expanding its operations and enhancing its governance structure. The company aims to strengthen its position in the Nigerian market, particularly in the fertilizer industry, and continue its commitment to supporting local agriculture.
As Ogwuche steps into his new role, he is expected to leverage his extensive experience to contribute to Notore’s growth and success in the competitive agricultural sector.
