Nigeria Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface jokingly asked his national teammate Taiwo Awoniyi for £100, claiming he has played football before him.

The cruise lover told the Nottingham Forest man that he was sent to buy Maggi on the day he played in the FIFA U-17 World Cup final which Nigeria won.

Awoniyi was part of the Nigerian side that won the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup and scored four goals to help Nigeria win.

But Leverkusen forward Boniface claimed he was wearing one leg of slippers then.

Awoniyi was very unfortunate to sit with Boniface in the team bus while they were travelling to Kigali to face Rwanda in their second game of the African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Boniface started the 3-0 home win at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium when Nigeria faced Benin Republic.

The Leverkusen man won the Bundesliga unbeaten last season and also featured in the Europa League final defeat to Ademola Lookman’s Atalanta.

They are preparing to take on Rwanda to complete the first phase of the qualifiers as they seek to maintain their fine start.
