Super Eagles striker and current African Footballer of the year Victor Osimhen has tipped his follow countryman Ademola Lookman to be the next African best.

Osimhen has played alongside the Atalanta man who did wonders for the club en route their UEFA Europa League triumph last season.

Lookman scored a glorious hat-trick to break Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen unbeaten run and helped his side win the Europa League while also winning the match ball, man of the match, goal of the tournament and also Atalanta player of the season.

The 26-year old who made his debut for Nigeria back in 2022 scored three goals with an assist as Nigeria claimed Silver in last year’s AFCON tournament.

After enduring a though time during Finidi George’s short stay as the Super Eagles boss where they played a 1-1 draw against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa and lost 2-1 to Benin Republic in Côte d’Ivoire in World Cup qualifying matches, the forward has regained his flair under interim boss Augustine Eguavoen after nettijg twice in Nigeria’s 3-0 thumping of Benin Republic at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Saturday.

Osimhen who has been impressed with his performance after the former Everton, Leicester and RB Leipzig man has been the only African footballer to be namee in the last 30 of the Ballon D’Or Shortlist has tipped him to succeed him as African best.

“He(Lookman) is a passionate guy, he does his job diligently. I’m really happy for him but of course we all know he’s going to win the African Player of the Year. I am 100% sure, he will win it,” Osimhen told Dapoceo Podcast.

“I already told him he’s bringing it home and he deserves it as he has done so well for us. It’s a win for Nigeria because he has represented us well.” He added.
