In its commitment to advancing youth empowerment and accelerating economic development in Nigeria, Dangote Cement Plc is set to launch a multi-million naira Skills Development Centre in Lokoja, Kogi State’s capital.
The announcement, made by Mr. Azad Nawabuddin, Plant Director of Dangote Cement Plc in Obajana, was shared through a statement from the company’s Corporate Communications Department in Kano. Nawabuddin confirmed that the Skills Development Centre will be completed in the coming months.
The initiative, conceived by Dangote Group President Aliko Dangote in collaboration with the Kogi State government, is part of a broader series of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects undertaken by the cement company.
Nawabuddin highlighted that the Skills Development Centre will play a crucial role in Nigeria’s industrialization by providing essential skills needed for the country’s advancement. The state-of-the-art facility is expected to create significant job opportunities for Nigerian youths, who will be the primary beneficiaries.
“Dangote Cement Plc is committed to being a socially responsible company, and we are dedicated to implementing various developmental programs for our host communities,” Nawabuddin said. “Our active Community Development Agreement (CDA) ensures that we work in harmony with our communities.”
He noted that previous development projects include the construction of Nigeria’s longest concrete road, stretching from Obajana to Kabba; a multi-million naira clinic in Iwaa; and the provision of essential amenities such as water, electricity, and hospitals. Additionally, Dangote Cement Plc has invested billions of naira in various empowerment schemes.
