Augustine Eguavoen has left his role as the head coach of the Nigeria Men senior national team, the Super Eagles after just two matches in charge.
The gaffer in a statement as quoted by owngoalNG said his mandate was just for two games.
Following a series of talks with both foreign and local coaches for the Super Eagles top job which proved abortive, Eguavoen who is the Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) took the role to lead the team in the two African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
Nigeria defeated Benin Republic at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo in his first match on his return as the interim coach of the super Eagles thanks to a 3-0 scoreline.
Atalanta forward and Ballon D’Or nominee Ademola Lookman scored a brace while new Galatasaray signing Victor Osimhen made it 3-0.
Eguavoen also led the team to a goalless draw against Rwanda as he left his role as the head coach of the team with four points from two games while sitting at the top of group D in the ongoing qualifiers.
The Nigeria Football Federation will now have to find a permanent solution to the managerial role of the Super Eagles as the task of qualifying to the next edition of the FIFA World Cup is still at stake.
