Temitope Ajayi, a Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, has drawn a parallel between the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and former U.S. President Donald Trump. This comparison came about on Wednesday in response to the recent debate between Trump and Democratic candidate Vice President Kamala Harris.

Ajayi suggested that, much like Trump, Obi tends to employ strikingly negative language to characterize the nation he aspires to lead, aiming to garner voter sympathy.

On his social media platform X, Ajayi stated, “Peter Obi mirrors Donald Trump in Nigeria. Just like Obi, Trump resorts to the most disparaging terms imaginable to depict the country he seeks to govern, all to ignite emotions and rally his supporters.”

He praised Kamala Harris for her performance in the debate, asserting that she effectively challenged Trump. “Kamala executed a strong prosecution of Trump during their initial debate last night. She convincingly emerged as the winner, showcasing her capabilities without a doubt,” Ajayi noted.

He further explained that Harris capitalized on Trump’s vulnerabilities, setting traps that he ultimately fell into. “Both candidates underwent fact-checking regarding their statements in the debate, revealing that while Harris made only one inaccurate claim, Trump was found to have made 33 false statements in the same 90 minutes.”
