The Federal High Court in Abuja has rescheduled the bail hearing for Isaac Bristol to September 17.
Bristol, accompanied by his attorney, Deji Adeyanju, appeared before the court on Wednesday morning, where his bail application was supposed to be addressed by Justice Emeka Nwite. However, the judge opted not to proceed with the hearing at that time.
Adeyanju communicated the postponement through a WhatsApp message following the court session.
“The court has granted bail to the protesters, but Bristol’s application has been moved to the 27th of this month,” Adeyanju stated, although subsequent clarification revealed that the hearing is now set for September 17.
Bristol, who is also known by the nickname ‘Pidom,’ faces nine charges filed by the police in August, which include serious offenses such as terrorism, money laundering, cybercrime, and tampering with evidence.
These charges stem from his whistleblowing efforts, particularly through his operation of the X (formerly Twitter) account ‘@PIDOMNigeria,’ where he brought to light alleged corruption in Nigeria.
The postponed hearing will decide whether Bristol will be granted bail or continue to remain in custody while his case moves through the judicial process.
