Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has announced a monthly bursary payment of ₦20,000 for undergraduates and ₦30,000 for postgraduates in the state.
Speaking at the Youth Appreciation Rally held at Uyo Township Stadium on Wednesday, Eno disclosed that students pursuing professional courses such as medicine, law, engineering, and agriculture would receive ₦30,000 monthly.
“For our students, beginning this academic session, we have increased the bursary from ₦10,000 to ₦20,000 for all undergraduates. Professional students studying medicine, law, engineering, agriculture, and all postgraduate students will receive ₦30,000,” the governor stated.
Additionally, Governor Eno highlighted his administration’s youth empowerment efforts, noting that 21 youths are currently undergoing engineering training in partnership with Ethiopian Airlines in Addis Ababa.
He further revealed that his government has trained over 150 youths in agriculture, providing them with modern farming skills. The government will also support these young farmers by supplying them with seedlings and purchasing their crops once they are ready for harvest.
“We have 21 youths currently training as engineers with Ethiopian Airlines in Addis Ababa, sponsored by the state government. We have trained more than 150 youths in agriculture, aiming to help them become agripreneurs. We will provide them with seedlings and buy their produce when it’s time for harvest. We’ll support them with funding to run their businesses,” Eno added.
