Alhaji Alasan Ado Doguwa, the representative for Doguwa/Tudunwada Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has expressed strong confidence that his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), will achieve a sweeping victory in the upcoming local government elections in Kano State.
The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) has scheduled the elections for chairmanship and councillorship positions to take place on October 26, 2024.
Speaking to his supporters at his residence in Kano on Sunday, Doguwa shared his optimism about the electoral prospects for the APC.
He highlighted critical factors contributing to their confidence, stating, “One of the key reasons we believe we will triumph in the local elections is that KANSIEC is not utilizing personal ballot boxes for voting. Additionally, the voter registers they are using are based on records maintained by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).”
Doguwa emphasized that the independence of the State Electoral Commission and the neutrality of the police and other security agencies, which are not under state control, bolster their assurance of a fair election outcome.
He noted, “The residents across the 44 local government areas are looking to the APC for relief from their current dire living conditions. We aim to secure victory in 40, if not all, of the local government areas in these upcoming elections.”
As the Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), Doguwa urged APC supporters to maintain peaceful conduct throughout the electoral process, advising them to rise above provocations and focus on constructive campaigning.
“Stay focused on relevant issues rather than getting caught up in personal attacks or slanderous remarks. Demonstrate your political strength and don’t let distractions deter you,” he encouraged his supporters.
