Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, has announced a significant contribution of N100 million aimed at providing relief to those affected by the severe flooding in Maiduguri.
During a visit to the city, Atiku expressed his heartfelt condolences to both the state government and the countless individuals impacted by this natural disaster.
The details of this charitable act and his visit were shared through a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, on Sunday.
“The Waziri’s act of kindness exemplifies his unwavering commitment to humanitarian causes,” the statement proclaimed.
The recent flooding in Maiduguri has displaced approximately 500,000 people, leading to a widespread crisis that requires immediate attention.
In addition to his financial support, Atiku has urged his network of friends and supporters to further contribute to the ongoing relief initiatives.
The statement also noted that “this act of generosity reflects Atiku Abubakar’s consistent humanitarian efforts, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, when he rallied his contacts to meet urgent needs.”
Upon his arrival at Maiduguri airport, Atiku, accompanied by family and close associates, received a warm welcome from Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno (SAN) of Borno North and Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan (SAN) of Borno Central. His visit culminated in a significant courtesy call to Governor Babagana Zulum at the Government House, where he formally announced his donation to the flood relief fund.
Governor Zulum expressed deep appreciation for Atiku’s compassionate visit, stating, “The people of Borno are profoundly grateful for this demonstration of solidarity.”
