Governor Siminialayi Fubara of Rivers State has officially suspended Otonye Briggs from his position as the chairman of the Akuku-Toru Local Government Area.

The announcement was made on Tuesday, September 17, through a statement from the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi.

While the statement did not provide specific details regarding the reasons behind Briggs’ suspension, it confirmed that the action takes effect immediately.

In light of this development, Governor Fubara has appointed Bitebobo Nelson Amieye as the interim chairman to manage the local government’s operations.

The governor has instructed Briggs to transfer all council assets in his possession to the newly appointed caretaker chairman.
