Nigeria Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface on Sunday handed his side Bayer Leverkusen a late winner over Wolfsburg.

The Nigerian was on target in the 93rd minute to gift Leverkusen the much-needed win.

Visiting Wolfsburg took the lead earlier on in the game when Mukiele was unfortunate to have scored an own goal in the 5th minute of the game.

In-form man Floran Wirtz equalised in the 15th minute after a short corner was passed to Granit Xhaka who rolled it for the forward who slotted it home.

The home side took the lead for the first time in the game through captain Jonathan Tah who met Grimaldo’s corner unmarked at the far post to head home for a 2-1 lead.

Wolfsburg had a quick-fire response after equalizing in the 37th minute and ensured they went on the break with a lead after another goal from the away side in the added time of the first 45.

Leverkusen equalised through Hincapie with an immediate response after the break leaving the scores tied at 3-3.

Both teams struggled to find the winner but Victor Boniface left it late as he handed Leverkusen the win in the 93rd minute.

The win ensured Leverkusen maintained second on the log, three points behind leaders Bayern Munich after registering three wins from four games.

Xabi Alonso will have the chance to go Level on points with leaders Bayern Munich when they travel to Allianz Arena on Saturday for a top of the table clash.
