Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a prominent figure within the All Progressives Congress (APC), has voiced strong disapproval of the ongoing verbal assaults directed at the judiciary by Tony Okocha.
In a statement, Eze urged the media to immediately stop acknowledging Okocha as the chairman of the Rivers APC, emphasizing that the legitimate and recognized party structure is under the leadership of Emeka Beke.
Eze, who previously served as the National Publicity Secretary of the now-defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), expressed his disappointment regarding Okocha’s inappropriate remarks about the judiciary. He called on Okocha to stop pretending to be the chairman of the Rivers APC Caretaker Committee.
He characterized Okocha as a disruptive individual who appears to be acting on behalf of former Rivers Governor and FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, labeling him as a complete outsider with no affiliation to the party in Rivers State.
The statement further noted, “The Nigerian Bar Association is aware of this situation, and the public should treat all of Okocha’s statements and meddling as his personal views and those of his superior – the FCT Minister.
“The uncivil behavior, moral shortcomings, and apparent mental instability exhibited by Mr. Okocha warrant immediate disciplinary action, potentially leading to expulsion; however, the Rivers APC can only act against its own members.
“Okocha is not recognized as a member of the Rivers APC, and his name does not appear on the party’s official register. If he were a member, he would have faced expulsion a long time ago.”
