President Bola Tinubu has called on the Nigerian Armed Forces to confront the nation’s adversaries with increased gallantry and strategic sophistication, reaffirming Nigeria’s position as the “Giant of Africa.”

The President delivered this charge during the combined passing-out parade of the 71 Regular Course, Army, Navy, and Air Force, held at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna on Saturday.

Represented by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Tajudeen Abbas, Tinubu emphasized that elite militaries remain professional in democratic dispensations, urging the officers to stay focused in their operations.

“Our status as the giant of Africa must not be compromised,” he declared, underscoring the importance of maintaining Nigeria’s leadership role on the continent.

The event marked the commissioning of 823 officers, including graduates of the Direct Short Service Course 28 (Army) and Direct Short Service Course 32 (Air Force).

Reflecting on the challenges facing the country, Tinubu expressed concern about the pressing issues of economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment, and the deterioration of living standards, which threaten Nigeria’s nationhood.

“We are confronted with multiple challenges that have attempted to destroy our nationhood,” he stated.

However, President Tinubu assured that his administration is committed to uniting, securing, and repositioning the country for development. “More than ever before, we are determined to do whatever it takes to ensure Nigeria is united, secure, and set on the path of progress,” he pledged.

Highlighting the government’s resolve, Tinubu pointed out, “We have identified the core of our problems and are working hard to confront them, including the associated ones, to make Nigeria more secure and improve the quality of life for every citizen.”

Acknowledging the sacrifices made by members of the armed forces, Tinubu expressed deep empathy for the widows and children of soldiers who have paid the ultimate price for the nation.

He directed the leadership of the Nigerian Armed Forces to develop a comprehensive policy proposal aimed at supporting families affected by the trauma of losing their loved ones in service.

“The government will not forget the families left behind by our fallen heroes. We must alleviate their suffering and honor their sacrifices,” he asserted.

Tinubu also addressed the cadets of the NDA, emphasizing that their loyalty, commitment, and resilience are vital to the nation’s success. “The nation has invested significantly in your training.

We expect nothing less than dedication, resilience, and unwavering service from you. Wherever and whenever Nigeria calls, you must be ready to answer,” he urged.

Concluding his remarks, Tinubu promised that his administration is determined to change the course of Nigeria’s history and unite the country for a prosperous future. “We are resolved to create a Nigeria where no one is left behind,” he stated.
