Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has firmly stated that he will never sacrifice his health or well-being for the sake of loyalty to anyone. “I firmly believe that if I must be the sole voice for what is right, then so be it. I refuse to compromise my integrity for loyalty. I will not part with my kidney or liver just to please anyone,” Fubara asserted.

Responding to accusations from FCT Minister Nyesom Wike regarding an alleged state-backed bombing attempt at a civic reception organized by the Rivers Ijaw People’s Council, Fubara maintained, “I can confidently say I have never solicited the assistance of any security agency to engage in wrongdoing. I have no need for such actions, and they continue to fail because divine guidance is absent from their efforts.”

Governor Fubara made these remarks during an interdenominational church service held in Port Harcourt, celebrating Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day.

The Governor elaborated on his administration’s initiatives, revealing a loan agreement of N200 billion with Zenith Bank to fund the construction of the 50.15-kilometer Port Harcourt Ring Road. Additionally, he announced the commencement of the Trans-Kalabari Road project, estimated at N225.1 billion, alongside the development of General Hospitals and a Psychiatric Hospital in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, all undertaken without incurring debt.

“They claim ignorance of our projects. Let me clarify: it is I, Fubara, who signed the loan agreement for the Port Harcourt Ring Road. That is my initiative. I am also the one overseeing the Trans-Kalabari Road project, which has been stalled by previous administrations. I am not borrowing funds for this—it’s all being done with careful management,” he emphasized.

Fubara further highlighted his administration’s achievements in just one year compared to the eight-year tenure of his predecessors. “Those who only make noise are often empty vessels. If God has blessed you, use that opportunity wisely. We will continue to work diligently for the welfare of our people without fear or hesitation,” he stated.

The Governor expressed his commitment to the state, stating, “This state is our pride, and we will not engage in any actions that could tarnish its reputation. As we improve our Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), our opponents are struggling to keep up. Remember, you don’t need to destroy what you have built.”

He also touched on a spiritual note, mentioning that “God allows evil to persist for a time to give them a chance to repent. However, when the time comes, those who have ignored the opportunity will face consequences. This will be our experience in Rivers State. Those who seek recognition through noise are often the ones who have lost their way. Fortunately, I stand here with a solid reputation.”

Governor Fubara reaffirmed his allegiance to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) despite internal conflicts, emphasizing his commitment to conducting fair elections. He called for peaceful participation, urging all involved to prioritize the well-being of the people of Rivers State. “We have taken Rivers State on a new path,” he concluded.
