Governor-elect of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, alongside his Deputy Governor-elect, Denis Idahosa, visited Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State on Wednesday to express their gratitude at the Government House in Owerri.
As the Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, Sen. Uzodimma assured Okpebholo of the unwavering support from the All Progressives Congress (APC) as he prepares to assume office in Edo State.
During the visit, Okpebholo conveyed his appreciation for Uzodimma’s steadfast assistance “before, during, and after” the recent election held on September 21, 2024. He acknowledged Uzodimma’s role as a “father, leader of APC, and dependable ally” throughout the electoral process.
Accompanied by former Governor Adams Oshiomhole, the APC Chairman in Edo State, and other prominent party members, Okpebholo expressed their collective thanks, stating, “We are here to say a big thank you.”
He noted that following their electoral victory, the immediate focus would be on the development of Edo State. Okpebholo emphasized the importance of receiving Governor Uzodimma’s blessings as they prepare to take office, which he mentioned would complement the guidance from the Oba of Benin, who had also encouraged them to express their gratitude.
The Governor-elect extended an invitation to Uzodimma to attend his inauguration on November 12, 2024, highlighting his role as a father figure within the APC family.
In response, Governor Uzodimma warmly welcomed the delegation, expressing gratitude for their visit and the significance of their election victory in Edo State. He shared in their joy, stating, “It is a delight that APC has won in Edo State, and we are all rejoicing over this success.”
Uzodimma congratulated Okpebholo and the APC members, praying for wisdom as they fulfill their campaign promises. He encouraged Okpebholo to revitalize Edo State, fostering prosperity and development that would validate the trust placed in him by party leaders and Edo citizens.
The Governor offered prayers for the successful implementation of their plans and assured Okpebholo that the people of Imo State would continue to support him as long as he remains committed to progress in Edo.
He concluded by reinforcing the notion that with divine support and the backing of influential figures like President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Okpebholo should face his new role with confidence, as the electorate has placed their trust in him.
The visit was attended by key government officials, including Imo State Deputy Governor Lady Chinyere Ekomaru, Secretary to the State Government Chief Cosmos Iwu, and Chief of Staff Bar Nnamdi Anyaehie, among others.
