Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate for the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the 2023 elections, has expressed his willingness to consider the role of deputy to his Labour Party counterpart, Peter Obi, if specific conditions are fulfilled.

In a viral video posted on the X microblogging platform, the former governor of Kano State, speaking in Hausa, indicated his readiness to support Obi in the upcoming political landscape.

Kwankwaso asserted that he holds a more significant political stature than Obi, stating that he is open to discussions aimed at forming a partnership as they approach the 2027 elections.

“I am politically more prominent than Peter Obi; I consider myself his elder brother. With a PhD and a track record of better performance during my governorship, I have no objections to serving as Peter Obi’s deputy, provided certain terms are agreed upon,” he remarked.

He emphasized the importance of establishing trust before entering into any negotiations.

During the 2023 elections, Peter Obi garnered substantial support, winning in 11 states and the Federal Capital Territory, with a total of approximately 6,101,533 votes.

In contrast, Kwankwaso achieved victory in 38 of the 44 local government areas in Kano State, amassing a total of 1,496,687 votes during the election.
