Ayodele Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti State, has asserted that Peter Obi, the ex-presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has emerged as the primary voice of the opposition, overshadowing his own party’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

In an interview, Fayose expressed skepticism about the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) ability to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2027 presidential election.

He lamented the ongoing leadership turmoil within the PDP, stating that the party has lost its cohesion and direction. “As I often say, we can defeat the APC, but if we no longer have a functioning party, how can we achieve that?” he questioned.

Fayose urged Atiku to reconsider his aspirations for future elections in Nigeria, lamenting that while they criticize the APC, the PDP’s internal disarray undermines their credibility. “When Obi has become the voice of the opposition, it raises questions about our own party’s relevance,” he continued.

He pointed out that media outlets now often prefer to contact Obi for comments rather than the PDP. “When our Publicity Secretary is suspending members and vice versa, one must ask, where is the party?” Fayose concluded.
