Senate President Godswill Akpabio has refuted claims of an impending impeachment against him, labeling the reports as unfounded and a product of the writer’s imagination.
In a statement released on Wednesday through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio responded to various online articles suggesting that the Department of State Services (DSS) had taken control of the National Assembly amidst rumors of an impeachment plot.
He asserted that there is no division within the Upper Chamber and that no senator or political group is scheming to impeach him, emphasizing that “every senator is committed to enhancing the Legislative Agenda and contributing to nation-building.”
“The Honorable Godswill Akpabio, GCON, Senate President of Nigeria, wishes to unequivocally state that the rumors regarding a supposed impeachment plot against him are the work of fifth columnists who thrive on misinformation and chaos,” he declared.
As a leader of one of the branches of government, Akpabio firmly denied these baseless allegations and reiterated his dedication to transformative leadership within the Senate, highlighting his effective collaboration with other government branches.
He maintained that there is no disunity in the Upper Chamber and that all senators are united in their focus on legislative progress and national development.
“The claims are merely a desperate attempt to sow discord among the distinguished senators. It is regrettable that some individuals choose to propagate falsehoods to further their own malicious agendas,” he stated.
Senator Akpabio emphasized his commitment to advancing the goals of the 10th Senate’s Legislative Agenda and diligently addressing critical national issues related to growth and prosperity.
He assured the public that he would not be swayed by these baseless rumors and remains steadfast in his dedication to Nigeria’s advancement.
