Tony Okocha, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker Committee in Rivers State, voiced on Sunday in Abuja that the ministers under President Bola Tinubu are failing to effectively contribute to the administration’s goals.

Okocha remarked that the accomplishments of President Tinubu are largely overlooked, attributing this to the inadequacies of his ministers in communicating these successes to the public.

“President Tinubu’s achievements remain largely unknown because many of his ministers have not fulfilled their responsibilities and are not enhancing the administration’s impact on the nation,” he stated.

He emphasized the importance of publicizing the government’s successes, saying, “The days of modesty are over; it’s essential to promote your achievements loudly.”

Okocha acknowledged that, despite facing significant challenges, the Tinubu administration has made commendable efforts, especially given the poor conditions it inherited.

He contrasted the current government with that of former President Muhammadu Buhari, asserting that while Buhari’s administration fell short, the present government is diligently working to revitalize the country.

“It’s unfortunate that many ministers in Tinubu’s cabinet remain largely unknown due to their lack of influence and failure to effectively communicate the government’s initiatives,” he remarked.

He pointed out that the president’s accomplishments over the past two years often go unnoticed until he addresses the nation directly.

“There needs to be accountability for informing Nigerians about the activities within the various ministries, as these collectively represent the president’s achievements,” Okocha added.

He also mentioned that Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers and now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has been effective in raising his profile by actively engaging with the media.

Okocha stressed that for Tinubu to successfully implement his Renewed Hope Agenda, he needs a competent team. “Some of the underperforming ministers should be replaced with more capable individuals,” he suggested.

Regarding youth involvement in the Tinubu administration, Okocha asserted that the government is not opposed to youth participation.

He expressed confidence that the APC would secure victory in the 2027 presidential election, claiming that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is currently facing internal challenges.
