Former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has officially inaugurated three significant road projects in Bauchi State, urging residents to rally behind Governor Bala Mohammed in his efforts to elevate the state’s development.

During the inauguration ceremony held yesterday, Obasanjo praised Governor Mohammed for his initiatives aimed at enhancing the progress of Bauchi State, noting that the governor’s transformative infrastructure projects serve as an exemplary model for other leaders to follow.

The former President acknowledged the governor’s accomplishments in delivering tangible benefits of democracy to the populace, encouraging him to persist in his commitment to serving the state’s citizens.

“I have witnessed the progress you have made for the people of Bauchi during my brief time here. Your efforts have been commendable based on what I’ve observed regarding your service to the state. You are laying down a legacy that will endure, and as we inaugurate these dualized roads, which are part of the 121 roads you have undertaken, we celebrate three of them today,” he remarked.

Obasanjo highlighted that the dualization of the 7km Awalah-Maiduguri Road, the 17.7km Awalah-Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport Road, and the 30km Gubi-Gari Rudu Bida-Siyi-Nasarawa Link Road will significantly benefit the local population.

“We are not merely inaugurating roads; we are paving the way for new developmental opportunities,” he stated.

He elaborated that these roads would improve transportation, stimulate trade, and generate employment opportunities, which are crucial for the community.

Furthermore, he emphasized that the new infrastructure would provide easier access for residents and farmers in Bauchi to markets, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions.

The ex-president congratulated Governor Mohammed and his cabinet for their efforts in driving development, commending the contractors for their timely execution of the projects.

“I commend you, Governor Bala Mohammed, for your leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment to the development of Bauchi State. You are building upon the foundations laid by former Governor Muazu, and that is the essence of progressive governance,” he expressed.

Obasanjo noted that the people of Bauchi are fortunate to have Bala Mohammed at the helm and encouraged them to support his ambitions to elevate the state further.

“We have seen leaders who regress instead of advancing, but we urge you to aim for greater heights,” he charged Governor Mohammed.

In his remarks, Governor Mohammed expressed gratitude to the former president for accepting his invitation to the commissioning ceremony.

“These projects reflect our steadfast dedication to enhancing connectivity and infrastructure throughout Bauchi State,” Mohammed stated.

He further mentioned that in addition to constructing over 1,000 roads, his administration is making significant strides in education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, and security.

“Our focus remains on sustained growth and the continuous enhancement of the welfare of the people of Bauchi,” the governor concluded.
